The Chamber hosted its second ¡VIVA San Antonio! planning session on Monday, January 9 in preparation for the event, which is set for February 28.
Eddie Aldrete, VIVA Chairman and Senior Vice President of IBC Bank, kicked off the meeting with remarks about the importance of our business and community leaders having a strong presence at the State Capitol. The 85th Texas Legislature formally began this week, and we anticipate a tough session due to a leaner budget.
Following Eddie’s remarks, the group dispersed into issue teams to identify the legislators they would like to meet with while at the Capitol, including committee chairs or other legislators outside of the San Antonio delegation. Chamber staff has already begun working with legislators to secure one-on-one meetings.
Issue teams will continue to prepare talking points and white papers as well as monitor any bills filed leading up to February 28. The next VIVA planning session will take place January 23. For more information on VIVA San Antonio, click here.
