Community service is an integral component to the commemoration of San Antonio’s tricentennial. As such, the Tricentennial Commission has established a dedicated community service initiative, Serve 300 SA.
Serve 300 SA will inspire and engage local non-profit organizations and volunteers of all ages to serve our San Antonio community. Through Serve 300 SA, the Tricentennial will mobilize the passion of stakeholders across the city in the development of service projects that will challenge diverse volunteer teams to build capacity and advance the vision of the city and county.
Through its online application, the Tricentennial will partner with non-profit organizations on capacity-building projects, large and small. Applications will be accepted through April 30, 2017. Serve 300 SA will evaluate and select projects based on how they align with the Tricentennial Guiding Principles. Community projects may be existing initiatives, an expansion of existing projects or new volunteer events but must occur in 2018, the tricentennial year.
Once community projects are selected, the Tricentennial will match and assign volunteer(s)/volunteer groups to approved projects based on need.
“Serve 300 SA is one of the four initiatives of the Tricentennial and an opportunity to further engage the entire community to participate in this historic milestone anniversary,” said Edward Benavides, CEO of the Tricentennial. “This initiative will provide non-profits and other community-based organizations the opportunity to share with us proposed projects and call for volunteers, our residents, to make these projects a reality. With the collaboration of volunteers, donors and civic-minded residents, the impact of Serve 300 SA will be tremendous and observed throughout 2018.”
