SAN ANTONIO, TX – Hemisfair is pleased to announce that for a second year it will be hosting FitFest, a FREE festival of workouts, classes, information and healthy refreshments!
On Saturday, March 25th from 9am-12pm, Yanaguana Garden will be the home to all kinds of fitness experiences, starting with the Junior League of San Antonio’s ¡VIVA! SA 5K/10K/Competitive Walking and Kids’ Race presented by Whole Foods Market and University Health System. The race will start from Yanaguana Garden at 9:00 am. Throughout the morning, visitors can join free classes from Camp Gladiator, MIX FIT SA, CrossFit 925, JoyRide Texas, San Antonio Sports and Social Club, and Aerial Yoga San Antonio. Each of the vendors will be on site with information about their organization while providing free classes and demonstrations to get San Antonio moving!
There will be also be a special schedule of youth fitness options that include youth yoga, dance lessons, RoTenGo, a jump rope contest and Kung-Fu lessons. The Kid’s Activity Corner is sponsored by the Silver and Black Give Back Foundation, the nonprofit partner of the San Antonio Spurs that support youth sports and fitness.
When visitors are done working out, they can refresh with fresh pressed juice from Urth Juice Bar, grab a snack from Cousins Maine foodtruck or even sample some fresh brews from Alamo Beer Co.
This is the second year Hemisfair has hosted FitFest in coordination with the Hemisfair Coalition, an organization of young professionals that support and advocate for redevelopment efforts at Hemisfair. FitFest is sponsored by Whole Foods Market.
Hemisfair will host more than 500 activations in 2017, most of them free and open to the public. The Hemisfair Park Area Redevelopment Corporation (HPARC) remains committed to bringing exciting and engaging events for locals to the Hemisfair district.
ABOUT Hemisfair Park Area Redevelopment Corporation (HPARC):
HPARC was created by City Council in 2009 and tasked by City leadership with redeveloping the former site of the 1968 World’s Fair in San Antonio, Texas. HPARC is dedicated to the transformation of Hemisfair into an urban district with residences, local businesses and multiple parks. The parks will be sustainable, self-funded and filled with events authentic to San Antonio, while providing a vibrant gathering place for everything from a day with friends to the city’s biggest celebrations. There are three parks within the district: Yanaguana Garden (which opened October 2015), Civic Park (Phase 2) and Tower Park (Phase 3).
HPARC is a 501(c)3 local government corporation, supported in part by the Hemisfair Conservancy, an independent 501(c)3.
