Your Chamber was among the many who welcomed the new Mexican Consul General, Ambassador Reyna Torres Mendívil, at City Hall on August 10. At the beginning of the City Council Session, the Mayor and City Council Members greeted and encouraged the Ambassador, who has already begun to make her mark on San Antonio. Her very extensive resume includes positions in Mexico’s Department of Foreign Affairs, the Mexican Consul in Fresno, CA, an advisor in International Policy on Human Rights and Chief of Staff to the Secretary of Foreign Relations. Torres Mendívil was appointed by President Enrique Peña Nieto, and has served as a member of the Mexican Foreign Service since 1991.
At City Council, Richard Perez announced his appreciation for her current accomplishments and encouragement for the work that has yet to be done. Later that evening, your Chamber attended a welcome reception in her honor at the Mexican Cultural Institute.
