The State of Texas Recognizes WIC Program Excellence

WHAT: Four San Antonio Women Infants and Children (WIC) Clinics operated by The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio and CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health System (CSRHS) will receive the State of Texas’ Gold WIC Loving Support Award of Excellence for Exemplary Support and Practices. The Clinic will be recognized for:

• • Increasing the number of pregnant women and infants served each month o Achieving a 99 percent breastfeeding rate among clients (the state average is 70 percent)
  • Including a peer dad among its many resources who serves as a mentor to young fathers
  • Establishing the city’s first “Infants-at-Work” program in which Associates working in the Clinic who have an infant six months old or younger can bring their baby to work
