Dear valued members and partners, As Hurricane Harvey makes its way to the Coastal Bend, it is likely that San Antonio will experience severe weather and flooding. We want to make sure you and your family stay safe, so we wanted to share some ways to prepare for the consequences of this natural disaster. - Before the severe weather starts, make sure you have a plan in place and have an emergency kit. Your emergency kit should consist of: - Plenty of water - Foods that require no refrigeration (ex: canned meats, fruits, vegetables, protein bars, nuts, vitamins) - A first aid kit with essentials (ex: sterile dressings, antibiotic ointment, adhesive bandages, prescribed medical supplies, aspirin) - Flashlights - A whistle to signal help - Battery powered radio - Extra batteries - A change of clothes per person - Personal hygiene items - Important family documents such as identification and bank records in a waterproof container Continue to monitor the weather situation by watching the news or listening to the radio. Be aware of flash flooding, stay clear of low water crossings or areas known to flood quickly, and immediately move to higher ground if told to do so. If you are asked to evacuate, do not attempt to walk or drive through moving water. If your home becomes flooded stay away from damaged areas, and remember that emergency workers will be assisting those in affected areas. Stay safe everyone.
