San Antonio has strong business, familial, cultural and historic ties with Mexico. News of the recent 7.1 magnitude earthquake as well as the 6.1 one that followed has been devastating and heartbreaking. As a community, our prayers are with those who have lost loved ones and our hearts go out to all who have been impacted.
Just as our friends in Mexico assisted Texas with Hurricane Harvey recovery, Texas stands ready to help Mexico City and the surrounding areas. Last week, I attended the San Antonio City Council meeting where Mayor Nirenberg, the City Council, and Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff urged the San Antonio community to show their support and solidarity for Mexico by donating money, which is the greatest need in that country right now.
