The Tricentennial is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to commemorate our rich history over the past 300 years, celebrate our bright future, and create a lasting legacy for generations to come. To mark this historical milestone, the City and County are joining together to celebrate our founding during Commemorative Week, May 1-6, 2018. On Founders’ Day, there will be five concurrent events across our community that will be free and open to the public, so everyone will have an opportunity to join in the festivities. The highlight will be a commemorative event showcasing our multinational culture and history – a one-of-a-kind FOUNDERS’ DAY GALA on the evening of Thursday, May 3 in the Stars at Night Ballroom at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. This event will be like none other, so you will not want to miss it. Our rich heritage will be celebrated through dance, music, spoken word and the culinary arts. And, by participating in this fundraiser, you will also be investing in a brighter economic future for our community, as funds raised at the gala will benefit one of our community’s crown jewels - our UNESCO World Heritage Site.  As you know, receiving the designation as a World Heritage Site has the potential to be a tremendous economic boon to our community, as it is expected to draw visitors from around the globe. But there is much work to be done to bring our World Heritage Site to its maximum potential, and we are happy that proceeds from the gala will help fund a legacy gift that will help welcome and guide visitors to our five World Heritage Missions. This gift will be a part of the interpretive signage and public art that will bring to life the rich history and culture, not just of the missions, but also of the many other treasures along the World Heritage Trail. So by your participation in the Tricentennial Gala, you will play a key role in making the Tricentennial’s lasting gift to our community a reality. We hope you will plan to join in this once-in-a-lifetime celebration! Click here for sponsorship levels and please email RSVP@sanantonio300.org if you plan to attend, or if you have questions.
