More than 300 viewers tuned-in to the Chamber’s 2018 Primary Election Facebook Forums. In an effort to engage a broader, more diverse audience, the Chamber took a new approach to their typical forum by using Facebook Live. Shaun Kennedy, the Chamber’s 2018 Chairman of the Board, served as moderator for the forums. While the Chamber does not endorse candidates, we understand the integral role our elected leaders play in ensuring Texas and San Antonio maintains a business friendly environment and a thriving economy. The purpose of the forums is to inform the community about the candidates on the May 22 Runoff Election ballot, and their positions on issues most important to the business community, including transportation, education and workforce, tourism, business development, and more. The Chamber went live earlier today leading with Republican candidates in the Texas House District 121 Runoff, Steve Allison and Matt Beebe. Immediately following the forum Republican Candidates in the Texas Congressional District 21 runoff, Matt McCall and Chip Roy took the stage. Candidates touched on issues that are top priority for the business community, including transportation, economic development, healthcare, and support for the military. The Chamber is currently working to schedule a forum for the Democratic candidates in the runoff election for Texas 23rd and 21st Congressional District. Once we are able to confirm the times of these forums, we will be sure to let you know.
