Each year your Chamber celebrates women business leaders who make San Antonio a better place to live, work, and play, and we are just two weeks away from honoring five outstanding ladies. This year’s Tribute to Women Business Leaders Awards honorees include President and CEO of the Jewish Federation of San Antonio Ronit Sherwin, who will receive the Promise Award, which recognizes an exceptional leader who has made a significant impact on business and the community in a short span of time. We will also honor Major General Angie Salinas, USMC (Ret), CEO of the Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas, with the Hope Award for the notable effect she has had on our community. The Tribute to Women Business Leaders honorees each exemplify business practices and principles that are championed by Ford Motor Company and the San Antonio Chamber. A $1,000 scholarship will be donated to the college/university of the award recipient’s choice in her name, and each of the women will be recognized at the Awards Luncheon on June 21 at the Marriott Rivercenter from 11:45 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Registration information can be found on the Chamber’s website. Ronit Sherwin has been the CEO of the Jewish Federation of San Antonio since March 2014, and previously served as the Executive Director of the University of Delaware Hillel, an organization with the mission of engaging Jewish undergraduate and graduate students in Jewish life and leadership. She is a native of Cleveland, Ohio, and completed her B.S. in Education at the Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. Ronit completed a Master’s degree in Theological Studies at Harvard Divinity School. In addition, she completed a graduate fellowship at Pardes in Jerusalem. She was the first Latina selected and promoted to the general officer ranks in the U.S. Marine Corps. At the time of her retirement, she was the senior ranking woman and Hispanic in the Corps.
