On Monday, September 10, the San Antonio Chamber will honor Rosemary Kowalski with our Pathfinder Award. As a successful female entrepreneur, she established a platform for many women to look up to and emulate. Her career began in 1946 when she and her husband opened Uncle Ben’s Barbecue Restaurant. Since then, Rosemary’s career hasn’t slowed down, check out some of the highlights of her illustrious career:

1946 - Rosemary and Henry opened Uncle Ben’s Barbecue Restaurant 

1961 - Rosemary’s Catering officially launched

1967 - Catering by Rosemary began catering at the San Antonio Convention Center as a subcontractor of Sheridan Concessions

1968 - the business was named the official caterer for the HemisFair in ‘68

1972 - the business won an exclusive catering contract for the San Antonio Convention Center, a contract still maintained today

1985 - Rosemary greeted and catered for President Ronald Reagan and First Lady Nancy Reagan.

1989 - The company was renamed The RK Group

1990 - Rosemary traveled to London to the U.S. Ambassador’s residence to teach his chef how to prepare Tex-Mex food

1991 - Rosemary served Queen Elizabeth a Gin and Tonic at Lila Cockrell’s house

1993 - Rosemary’s son Greg took over The RK Group and become President and CEO

1997 - Rosemary retired from The RK Group but remained Chairman and CEO Emeritus

2016 - Rosemary served as Grand Marshal of the Battle of Flowers Parade as the Grand Marshal
