Your Chamber’s staff hit the polls this week to cast their votes for the 2018 Midterm Election. Since its founding, the Chamber has been a strong proponent of civic engagement and participation in the political process. Over the past few months,we have registered new voters, helped educate voters on the upcoming elections, and hosted a Debate for Texas’ Congressional District 21 as well as a Facebook Forum for Texas House District 121. Recently, your Chamber launched yourvotesa.com, a voter engagement tool aimed at educating voters and increasing voter participation.
Civic engagement and participation in the political process is a vital component of our community’s success. All levels of government are facing critical public policy issues. It is important that we elect pro-business candidates at the local, state, and federal levels. The San Antonio business community understands the integral role our elected officials play in ensuring Texas, as well as the entire US, maintains a business-friendly environment and a thriving economy.
After just a few days into early voting, more 102,500 people have voted in Bexar County. According to the Texas Secretary of State’s website, a record 1,187,007 Texans had participated in early voting by either mailing in a ballot or visiting a polling station. Based on the numbers so far, it seems voters are energized to hit the polls and make their voices heard.
Your Chamber strongly encourages you, your friends, family, and colleagues to get out and vote. Early voting continues every day until Friday November 2. For a list of all candidates and propositions on the ballot visit our website yourvotesa.com.
