Since 1970, your San Antonio Chamber of Commerce has been honored to host Celebrate America’s Military (CAM) as a way to show appreciation and support for our military service members and their families. This year, we have added a new event to kick off the two week long celebration. The CAM Prayer Breakfast will be held on Tuesday, October 30 at the Whitley Theological Center from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m. Traditionally, military prayer breakfasts are led by a Military Chaplain and intended to unite both soldiers and civilians through prayer. This prayer breakfast will honor Military Chaplains for their service and highlight the immeasurable and historical impact the they have had on service members and their families.
The breakfast will include remarks from Christian, Jewish, and Muslim Active Duty Chaplains from the Army, Navy and Air Force, as well as an invocation from Chaplain (Maj Gen Ret) Howard Stendahl, former Air Force Chief of Chaplains. Dr. Ben Craver, Professor of Religion at Wayland Baptist, will serve as the Master of Ceremonies and we are humbled to present our special guest, US Army Sergeant (Ret) David Reid, Purple Heart recipient, San Antonio resident, and Executive Director of the Robert Irvine Foundation, who will provide remarks of hope, overcoming adversity, and keeping faith.
This event is open to the public, but does require pre-registration. Active Duty, Guard and Reserve are free to attend with one guest. All civilians, veterans, and retirees are welcome to attend and show their appreciation for the Chaplains who serve and support our Nation’s military.
