On Monday, your Chamber’s Cybersecurity Industry Council finished up their 2018 work year with a meeting at Port San Antonio. Jim Perschbach, CEO, Port San Antonio kicked off the meeting with a presentation on the innovation and technology campus that is being built at the Port. The campus, and future innovation center facility, will serve as a way to connect government and private-sector organizations, engage students and entrepreneurs, and build a center of gravity for platform integration and critical infrastructure solutions development. The Port is a critical partner in the Chamber’s CyberSecurity San Antonio (CSSAtx) efforts, with a campus that is home to 24th Air Force (Air Forces Cyber), Boeing, Lockheed Martin, IPSecure, and many other private sector companies. Mark Chamberlain (USAA), the Chamber’s 2018 Cybersecurity Council Chair, wrapped up the work of the Council and the development of a Cybersecurity Capabilities Matrix that will allow CSSAtx to organize, structure, and track movement on cyber ecosystem development goals year-to-year. The Council also heard a briefing from Jill Vassar (EPIcenter) about the work that her team is doing to build a hub that will bring together citizens, entrepreneurs, and researchers to generate and promote groundbreaking ideas surrounding new energy. To close out the meeting, Patricia Gebbert (UTSA) provided an update on the progress of the National Security Collaboration Center (NSCC) and the launch of its interim home at the UTSA Main Campus. Over the course of 2018, the Cybersecurity Industry Council has worked to strategically map local efforts to long-term goals, and enhance your community’s ability to further major initiatives and track ecosystem growth. Under the leadership of Mark Chamberlain, the Cybersecurity Council has grown to nearly 300 members which organize within five Core Focus Areas, bringing together government, academia and industry to solve the next biggest challenges in cybersecurity. In 2019, your Chamber’s Cybersecurity Council will be led by Jarrett Cravey, who serves as the Director of Managed Security Services for Accenture Federal Services in San Antonio.
