More than 1,000 viewers tuned-in to the Chamber’s 2019 City Council Facebook Forums for Districts 2 and 4. To engage a broader, more diverse audience, the Chamber broadcast the forums via Facebook Live, and Shaun Kennedy, the Chamber’s Immediate Past Chair of the Board, served as moderator. While the Chamber does not endorse candidates running for office, we understand the integral role members of City Council play in ensuring San Antonio maintains a business-friendly climate. The purpose of the forums is to inform our members about the candidates and their positions on economic issues facing San Antonio and the surrounding region. The Chamber went live Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. with candidates from District 2, Jada Andrew-Sullivan and Keith A. Toney. Candidates answered questions about the biggest challenges facing the district, infrastructure, property taxes and the Climate Action and Adaptation Plan (CAAP). They also touched on the paid sick leave ordinance the Mayor and Council adopted last fall. At 11:30 a.m., District 4 candidates Dr. Adriana Rocha Garcia and Johnny Arredondo answered questions about homelessness, property taxes and supporting the military missions here in San Antonio. They also touched on how to address the increased congestion in the district. If you missed any of the forums, they will be up on our Chamber’s Facebook page until Election Day – Click here to watch the District 2 video. Click here to watch the District 4 video. We strongly encourage you to take what you learned from the forums and exercise your right to vote. Early voting starts Tuesday, May 28, and Election Day is Saturday, June 8.
