Your Chamber was on hand as the Department of Defense sent senior leadership from the Marine Corps Wounded Warrior Regiment to Morgan’s Wonderland Wednesday to address the San Antonio community. The topic of discussion was Warrior Games 2020, a Multinational Paralympic-style sports competition, which will be held right here in San Antonio in September of next year. The comradery and esprit de corps of our military was on full display as wounded, ill, and injured service members gave demonstrations of just a few of the adaptive sports the games will host. The games are tough and the athletes tougher, a true show of resiliency at its finest.
Attendees heard from Mayor Ron Nirenberg who took a long pause as vibrant cheers filled the room when addressing just how proud we are to be known as Military City USA ™, highlighting that it’s not just a moniker but a passion lived out to fruition day in and day out. Bexar County Commissioner Kevin Wolff amped up the crowd as he challenged all business, education, and community leaders to support San Antonio’s turn at hosting these games, so that they may return quickly thereafter. It’s going to take effort from all areas of the city to make these games a success, and we know you’re up for the challenge.
Keep an eye out for your chance to help host, volunteer, attend, and cheer on these men and women athletes from around the world. The events will take place around San Antonio at our world class facilities, which will be on full display for all to see, and you will have the opportunity to be a part of it all.
