The San Antonio Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors approved the Chamber’s 2020 Federal Legislative Agenda at the December 18 meeting. This document sets out the Chamber’s official position on a wide range of federal legislative issues that directly impact business and our community at large. The goal of this agenda is to promote and drive important initiatives that ensure the city remains the best place to live, work, and play.
Key funding request include reimbursement for Mission Reach, recapitalization of Kelly Field and transportation. Other key legislative priorities include a permanent solution for DACA participants, Senate approval of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), reauthorization of the Higher Education Act (HEA), and guidance to address Bexar County’s recent non-attainment designation.
Developing the agenda was a collaborative process that began early this year. The Chamber gathered input on policy and legislative strategy through the priorities identified by the Board, Chamber council and committee meetings, and meetings with members of the Bexar County Delegation.
The Federal Legislative Agenda lays the groundwork for the Chamber’s 42nd annual SA to DC trip scheduled for February 3-6, 2020.
