May 5, 2020 (SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS) — Baptist Health Foundation of San Antonio issued another group of Disaster Relief grants to area nonprofits battling COVID-19 and its effects. A $20,000 grant was given to the San Antonio Food Bank. Daily Bread Ministries, St. Peter-St. Joseph Children’s Home (St. PJ’s), Texas Diaper Bank and West Avenue Compassion each received grants of $10,000. These grants were given to support the general operations of the organizations, which have seen increased demand for services during the COVID-19 outbreak.
The grants were unsolicited by the nonprofits and were given in response to the organizations’ excellent response to the COVID-19 crisis.
“Disaster Relief grants are intended to provide stability during a time of uncertainty,” BHFSA President and CEO Cody Knowlton said. “These grants will help ensure the continuity of services provided to San Antonio’s vulnerable populations.”
This is the second time Baptist Health Foundation of San Antonio has issued Disaster Relief grants in 2020. The first grants, totaling $60,000, were given to the Salvation Army and the COVID-19 Response Fund managed by the San Antonio Area Foundation and the United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County.
Baptist Health Foundation of San Antonio (BHFSA) was formed in 2004 to fund not-for-profit healthcare services and education throughout Bexar County and seven surrounding counties.
