Bexar County has received $79 million from The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. Yesterday, the Bexar County Commissioners Court voted to allocate half of it, $39.5 million, to workforce retraining efforts.
In addition, County commissioners approved a proposed framework for the $79 million received from the CARES Act. Commissioners will discuss in detail at a work session next week how funding will be distributed. Below is the proposed distribution:
- Workforce Retraining - $39.5 million
- Household Stabilization and Support – $15.8 million
- Digital Divide and Technology – $7.9 million
- Small Business and Support – $7.9 million
- Modifying County Facilities – $5.4 million
- Elections – $2.4 million
Count on your Chamber to keep you updated on how the county will distribute the $79 million. If you have any questions about the proposed framework, please contact Stephanie Reyes Vice President of Public Policy by email at
