Thursday, the Chamber hosted its sixth log-in and learn webinar for our members: Business and Mental Health Realities – A conversation about the state of mental health and how businesses can support employees. The Chamber understands the importance of mental health across our community and its effects on our employees and businesses, and access to mental health care has been included in the Chamber’s state and federal legislative agendas for the last few years.
Additionally, employers have shared with us their interest in learning how to assist employees who are dealing with new challenges during this time. Our speakers included:
- Jennifer Hixon, Violence Prevention Manager at Metro Health,
- SAPD Chief William McManus, and
- Adriana Dyurich, Graduate Medical Education at University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
Each speaker provided insight into signs of challenges, the impact that not managing stresses can have on someone, and resources that are available at little or no cost.
Below are local resources if you or someone you may be a victim of domestic violence:
- National Domestic Violence Hotline 1-800-799-SAFE
- Text or Call 911
- Family Violence Prevention Services - 210-733-8810
- Bexar County Family Justice Center – 210-631-0100 | https://bexarcountyprotectiveorders.org/
- SAPD Victims Advocacy – 210-207-2141
Participants provided great feedback during the webinar, so we are planning to hold another event on the topic of coping with mental health issues in the coming weeks.
