The future of our economy depends upon resiliency and innovation, characteristics that are embodied by our local high school and college students. Interest in summer internships remains high, and your Chamber encourages you to consider hosting a student remotely or on-site (with the appropriate COVID-19 precautions). Take a look at the options below, and sign up today!
Family Service
Family Service’s Youth Summer Internship Program partners students 14 to 17 years of age with various organizations throughout San Antonio. Starting on Monday, July 6, students are immersed within their matched company through July 31. For more information about the summer internship program, visit https://family-service.org/youth-summer-internship . Check out highlights from last summer through this short YouTube video. Contact Family Service at 210-299-2400 or youthcareer@family-service.org to host high school interns at NO cost to employers.
Trinity University
#HireATiger this summer! Do you need help creating or altering a business plan? Are you stumped on how to increase your marketing presence? Do you need some marketing content developed? Do you have other short-term projects but no time/staff/resources to complete them? Is your organization sitting on data that needs to be cleaned, analyzed, or utilized?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, please contact the Trinity University Career Services Department at 210-999-8321 or careerservices@trinity.edu. Projects must have a clear beginning and a clear end. Organizations will review applications and select students that express interest in their projects. All work will be conducted remotely/virtually and can be micro-internships (anywhere from 10-20 hours or more).
SAWorks
The current pandemic has highlighted resilient industries, compounded in-demand occupations, and taught us new ways of working. Now more than ever, our future workforce needs access to internships that provide insight into the professional skills required to build a career in our changing world. Internships help develop relevant skills that equip students to be successful in college and career.
A traditional in-person summer internship might not be possible this year. SA Works is here to help employers host Virtual Project-based and Virtual Mentor-based Internships this summer. Interns are high school students and graduating seniors, 16-20 years old. Recommended minimum salary of $9.00 per hour or $500 minimum stipend for mentor-based internship. Visit SAWorks.org/Employers to sign up or contact Saani Fong at SAWorks@sanantonioedf.com with any questions.
