The San Antonio Chamber of Commerce continues our support of the #TeachersCan initiative, a statewide effort to elevate and appreciate the 350,000+ teachers in Texas, by celebrating World Teacher’s Day. In honor of our educators, the Chamber will light its building in light blue the evening of October 5. The 2020 World Teacher’s Day theme is “Teachers: Leading in crisis, reimagining the future.” Teachers have continuously showed the community their dedication to the academic and social/emotional learning of our students. Educators are at the forefront of shepherding the children in our community through the aftermath of the pandemic and into a future with hope and possibility. We invite everyone to join the celebration of our teachers! For Teachers Teachers can own their impact this World Teacher’s Day by sharing a video through social media or TeachersCan.org about why they teach. Be sure to tag us @sachamber and use the hashtag #TeachersCan. Using the same hashtag, upload a photo to social media and become part of the #TeachersCan digital mosaic. For Community Members Everyone has been impacted by a teacher at some point in their lives. Show your support on World Teacher’s Day by posting a video, photo, or message about a teacher that made a difference in your life. Be sure to use the hashtags #TeachersCan and #ThankATeacher and tag us @sachamber, so we can share far and wide. You can also sign up as a #TeachersCan supporter at TeachersCan.org. On the same site, there are posters and graphics available to download that can be used to display your support of teachers in the office or at home. Tie light blue ribbons on the trees around your home.
