Applications for SA: Ready to Work Advisory Board are now open!
The San Antonio Ready to Work Advisory Board will include local employers from industries with occupations currently in demand, City workforce program participants, and representatives from trade or labor organizations, community organizations and training providers. Additionally, the Board will include two City Council liaisons appointed by the Mayor. City Council has been asked to adopt guiding principles and policies for the SA Ready to Work program no later than March of 2021.
SA Ready to Work program was put into place to help train up to 40,000 displaced workers in the post-COVID-19 pandemic. It aids those impacted the most, which include hospitality, food service and retail workers and offers programs to help build new skills in high-demand career areas. The 1/8 cent sales tax proposition approved by voters in the November 2020 election will be dedicated to the workforce initiative for a four-year period starting in September 2021. Your Chamber played a key role in getting the ballot initiative passed.
