In November 2020, the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce received a very important and exciting charge from former Chair of the Chamber Board of Directors and former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Henry Cisneros. He asked the Chamber to help compile a list of the top infrastructure needs in San Antonio/Bexar County with the goal of providing the important data to the Biden Administration as an invaluable and foundational resource as a new Infrastructure Program is developed and hopefully funded over the coming months. Secretary Cisneros believed that it was important that the new Administration consult with local and regional leaders to create a bottom-up infrastructure strategy. To collect the critical data, the Chamber designed a survey to help influence infrastructure investment at the national level. This compilation of survey responses includes San Antonio and Bexar County projects and priorities critical to shaping a successful economic future in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. This is the first time any information like this has been collected for our region, and the Chamber is proud to have been able to share this information on behalf of our community. Secretary Cisneros recently released the report, and your Chamber will be hosting him in the coming week to discuss the findings. More details on that event will be available soon. The charge was in line with the Chamber’s mission to be an advocate for our members and the business community in building and sustaining a diverse and prosperous economy. We are hopeful that the opportunity to share the region’s infrastructure projects and priorities will help shape a successful economic future going forward.
