Valero and BlackRock Global Energy & Power Infrastructure have announced that they are partnering with Navigator Energy Services to develop an industrial scale carbon capture pipeline system. This project demonstrates their leadership in energy transition through innovation in renewables. Valero continues to expand their long-term competitive advantage with investments in the production of lower carbon fuels.
Carbon capture involves the separation and capture of CO2 (carbon dioxide) from industrial processes and subsequent movement to permanent storage underground. In simpler terms, CO2 that was previously released into the air, is redirected to a pipeline and transported via state-of-the-art technology to safe storage underground.
This new partnership is another demonstration of Valero’s commitment to reducing and offsetting refining emissions by 63% by 2025.
