The Brooks community and surrounding area has become a catalyst for growth over the last several years. More and more businesses are choosing the Southside of San Antonio to set up shop, and that means the creation of quality, good paying jobs and more people moving to this area.
A booming economy comes with congestion and traffic. There is no way around it, but our community can start building the infrastructure it needs to keep things moving. That is why the Chamber has and will continue to support efforts to connect South New Braunfels to Loop 410.
Project overview:
- $36 million project
- Connects SE Military to Loop 410 via South New Braunfels
- North and south bound traffic
- Divided four-lane roadways
- Center median within the Brooks campus
- Upgrading public utilities
- Stormwater retention
- Sustainable landscaping
- Smart street lights
- And multi-use paths connecting to public areas within Brooks
This project will help increase the flow of commerce and foster economic development at Brooks which many of our Chamber members call home.

Brooks has a significant impact on San Antonio with an annual economic output of $926 million. Over 6,000 jobs are located in the Brooks area with more than 3,300 employees and 2,300 residents working and living on the campus. With more than 350 acres still available for development, completing Brooks’ infrastructure needs will allow the full potential of this public-private-partnership to be realized. Your Chamber has already submitted comments in support of the project, and we encourage you to do that same.
