As the summer comes to a close, so do summer internships for the many driven individuals across our beautiful city. While their summer jobs may be over, young workers are nearing completion of their high school or college education and are looking toward the future. We want San Antonio to be their future.
At the Chamber, we have noticed that while these young people have valuable experiences in their internships, some are struggling to transition from college graduation to starting a career right here in San Antonio. These future business people are the next leaders, thinkers, and innovators of our world, and we want to see their skills and ingenuity stay in our great city.
To show our appreciation for their work and to share our love for San Antonio, your Chamber teamed up with the City to host an intern mixer on Thursday, August 5 at the Lila Cockrell Theatre. This event provided college interns the opportunity to understand the professional opportunities, lifestyle, and culture of San Antonio by fostering social and professional connections with peers, local professionals, and community leaders. Attendees were also able to learn why San Antonio is a logical place to launch a career. More than 50 interns gathered to celebrate a successful summer of hard work and to network for the future.
Attendees heard from our President and CEO, Richard Perez, as well as City Councilmember Dr. Adriana Rocha Garcia, representing District 4. Both thanked this incredible group for their hard work and encouraged each intern to consider our city their home both now and in the future.
A special thanks to the City of San Antonio for partnering with us on this event. Additionally, we are grateful for our Chamber interns: Alex Gaitan, Zayd Virani, Nicholas Whelan, Brandan Garza, and Josh Magana, who each displayed incredible work ethic and dedication to the work we do at the Chamber.
