Given challenges of COVID, supply chain disruptions, and security concerns, your Chamber’s Economic Development Council has partnered with the Texas Association of Business (TAB) to present a 90-minute, highly interactive discussion regarding how Texas should purposefully plan to re-shore, onshore and near-shore supply chain components in critical industry sectors. On Tuesday, May 17th at 3:00, our May Economic Development Council meeting will serve as one of seven regional town hall meetings convened in April and May to help TAB study and address recommendations to enhance Texas’ competitiveness and empower job creation.
We will review the purpose, study comparative advantage research on Texas and solicit your feedback and guidance on:
- What are the toughest challenges your industry faces over the next 5 years?
- What is your business doing to overcome supply chain disruptions?
- What opportunities do you see for reshoring or nearshoring overseas suppliers?
- What other technological disruptions do you anticipate will transform your business or sector?
- Are you able to attract and retain the talent you need?
- What types of positions are you struggling to hire?
- What local, regional, or statewide assistance are you receiving?
- Beyond what ‘s being done now, how else can the local and state economic development organizations assist your company in being more successful?
This project is being funded by a grant from the US Economic Development Administration. TIP Strategies, an economic development consulting firm, is assisting in developing the plan and will facilitate the roundtables. We look forward to seeing you in-person at our Northside Business Center (1100 NW Loop 410, Suite 109). If you cannot join us in-person, we will also offer a zoom option. We want to hear from you on this critical set of issues. If you have any questions, please contact Jeff Fair, VP Economic Development and Cybersecurity.
