Your Chamber was honored to attend a full day of events at St. Philip’s College on August 18 with six ceremonies including ribbon cuttings of four new buildings, an oak tree dedication in honor of the late Col. Roy W. Burley, Sr, and the unveiling of Saint Philip’s Way.
The Saint Artemesia Bowden building hosts the campus new state-of-the-art cyber range and other IT infrastructure and will support the upcoming Bachelor of Applied Technology Cybersecurity Engineering program. Faculty can use the facility to mimic cyber scenarios in a variety of industries, preparing students for multiple IT career pathways.
The Bowden building is named after the college’s founding president who was named a saint by the Episcopal Church in 2015. Her feast day is celebrated every August 18 across our country. Other ribbon cutting ceremonies marked the opening of the Tourism, Hospitality, and Culinary Arts Building, the William A. Hudgins Health & Wellness Building, and the Clarence W. Norris Building.
In May of 2017, Bexar County voters approved a general obligation bond and awarded the college $82 million to make improvements on current buildings and add new facilities. The new facilities will allow St. Philip’s College to serve more students and expand capacity to help them find paths to high-demand jobs in our community.
