Yesterday, Chamber President and CEO Richard Perez testified in support of the CPS Energy Board of Trustees approving Rudy Garza as President and CEO of CPS Energy.  Not only has Rudy been a friend to the Chamber and the San Antonio Business Community, but he also is uniquely qualified to lead the nation’s largest municipally owned electric and gas utility company.

Rudy is a 25-year veteran of the electric and gas industry, and during his 10 years at CPS Energy, he has held a variety of positions at the utility, giving him a broad view into the inner workings of the organization, garnering him credibility and earning him the respect and support of the CPS Energy team. Prior to stepping into the role of Interim President and CEO, Rudy served as CPS Energy’s chief customer and stakeholder engagement officer, giving him valuable insight into the needs of our community and the importance of working and communicating with the organization’s residential and business customers. This has served him well when facing lingering challenges, including managing the aftereffects of Winter Storm URI and convincing City Council and our community to support a much-needed rate increase.

Most importantly, Rudy has spent countless hours participating in town hall meetings and briefing business groups and the community with an emphasis on open communications and transparency. His work, dedication, and commitment are rebuilding the community’s trust in CPS Energy.

San Antonio is fortunate to have an individual like Rudy leading COS Energy into the future. He deserves our praise and support, and we are proud to offer this and more to him.

Congratulations, Rudy!
