The San Antonio Chamber of Commerce Economic Development Council hosted a panel to address the economic outlook for late 2022 and into 2023. Council Chair Charlie Weil, Vice President, Transwestern, welcomed Luis Torres, Senior Business Economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, to the Council for a presentation of the most recent economic data for San Antonio. Luis provided a thorough picture of the state of the economy nationally and for Texas, while drawing specific points about our local situation. Presently, he said all indicators point to a slowdown, but several questions remain surrounding supply chain and employment. As indicators continue a downward trend across the country, data for Texas and San Antonio point to a more moderate downward trajectory.

Following the regional presentation from Luis, Charlie moderated a panel to discuss the local economic outlook. In addition to Luis, Charlie welcomed Stephen Ynostrosa, Director of Community Relations at Air Force Federal Credit Union, and Roberto Espinosa, long-time Council member and Wealth management Advisor for Northwestern Mutual, to the panel. Council members asked great questions of the group related to labor constraints, rising interest rates and prudent moves for areas business and individuals to navigate a changing lending landscape.  Click here to see the Dallas Federal Reserve presentation.
