Last Thursday, your Chamber hosted Cyber Charge: Protecting Critical Infrastructure with presenting sponsor CPS Energy. The morning event was aimed at facilitating discussion about cybersecurity with some of the nation’s leading experts in critical infrastructure security. Judge Nelson Wolff made his final Cybersecurity Awareness Month appearance, presenting a proclamation that was prepared by Commissioner Tommy Calvert’s office.
To kick off the event, San Antonio Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Richard Perez introduced Shanna Ramirez, Chief Legal & Ethics Officer, General Counsel, & Board Secretary of CPS Energy. Shanna welcomed the audience and introduced the new Chief of Integrated Security at CPS Jonathan Homer as the keynote speaker.
Homer, a former Department of Homeland Security cybersecurity leader, provided an engaging look at the changing landscape of cybersecurity and how leaders are working to be flexible, resilient, and meet the challenges posed by an evolving threat landscape. Following his remarks, Jonathan joined Karen O’Reilly-Smith, Rackspace Chief Security Officer and Senior Vice President, and Edward Contreras, Executive Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer at Frost Bank, for a panel discussion. Moderated by Richard Perez, this all-star panel covered many cybersecurity topics and fielded questions from the audience. After the formal portion of the program, attendees were able to visit public, private, and non-profit organizations who staffed tables around the room to engage and educate the audience on their mission and cybersecurity efforts.
