The San Antonio Chamber of Commerce Aerospace Committee met on Tuesday, June 13th to discuss manufacturing capabilities in the region. Chair Scott Gray, President, Elevate Systems, welcomed the group to Atkinson Aeronautics, who hosted the meeting at their San Antonio offices. President of Atkinson Marc Magram shared Atkinson’s nationwide footprint and details on their electromagnetic spectrum operations training focus here in San Antonio. Following our hosts’ introduction, Melanie Moran with Alamo Academies thanked the committee for hosting the program’s aerospace interns following a successful effort to place all of the students this summer.
Our guest for the meeting was Dan Yoxall, CEO of the San Antonio Manufacturer’s Association, or SAMA. Dan first described what SAMA is and what they do for our region, including advocacy and building the local industry. Our committee chair and Dan discussed the effort to map our area’s aerospace manufacturing capabilities, identify gaps, and work with stakeholders to build both capabilities and capacity. At the end of the meeting, Nathan Ramon, Program Assistant with the Chamber, provided an update on the effort to revisit the Chamber’s Aerospace Directory this fall and made the committee members aware of the options for updates.
