The Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce Economic Development Council recently met at Civic Park to discuss the implications of quality-of-life considerations in attracting and retaining businesses and top talent.  Hosted by Anne Krause, executive Director of the Hemisfair Conservancy, the Council learned about the efforts of the Conservancy to build a world-class urban park in the center of our city.  The Council also received a guided tour of Civic Park from Krouse as she described the future of Hemisfair and some of the unique engineering solutions used in the park itself.

The newly opened Civic Park is an amazing achievement, but only the first step in what Krause described as focal point for San Antonio, a gathering place for all San Antonio residents and visitors. The Council focused more discussion on the linkage of parks, trails, and greenspace to other quality of life offerings in the city that highlight San Antonio’s unique arts and culture.  The Council agreed on initial steps of facilitating a wider dialogue on that connectivity and collaboration as well as supporting efforts to bring more outside funding to quality of life projects in San Antonio.

Finally, Council members recommended increasing efforts to assist members with educating employees of the offerings available across the city.  The Greater San Antonio Chamber’s relocation guide can assist employers with talking about San Antonio’s amazing opportunities for fun and leisure as well as helping top talent across the world see what our region has to offer.
