Leadership San Antonio officially launched its 48th cohort with a welcome reception at Jackson Walker LLP, hosted by the Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce and San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and sponsored by DOCUmation. Co-Chairs, Edward Benavides (The Center for Healthcare Services) and Brandyn Rodriguez (CPS Energy), welcomed the guests and invited the Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce’s 2024 Chair-Elect, Mario Barrera (Norton Rose Fulbright), and the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce’s 2023 and 2024 Chairman, Steve Alaniz (Momentum Physical Therapy), to provide congratulatory remarks on the new year ahead for the class members and steering committee mentors. “In 2024, LSA Class 48 will be a year of service, service in all aspects: philanthropic, volunteerism, social enterprise, business and economic contribution, civic engagement, and military service,” relayed Co-Chairs Benavides and Rodriguez. “Added to this will be the opportunity to incorporate a service component into each of the class days.”
This year’s cohort includes steering committee mentors with over 25 years of Leadership San Antonio experience and class members from diverse industries from construction and engineering, education, and financial services, to military, healthcare, manufacturing, law, and non-profits. Small business and large business, young and old, the 56 class members represent a stellar cross-section of Chamber members with exemplary and proven leadership within their industries and a keen interest in knowing how to connect and collaborate across the region on prominent issues.
Through the LSA process, participants gain invaluable insight from present and future decision-makers in both the public and private sectors and are better prepared to lead San Antonio into the future by using a broader understanding of our diverse region. The class members grow together into a tight-knit family – which serves as a great thought generator and positive impact multiplier. LSA’s partnership between the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce and the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce aims at educating and motivating leaders to become involved in the Chambers’ Councils and Committees and spark a volunteer spirit in our local community boards and programs.
“This next year looks to be one of the best class years ever,” says Lori Stinson, Vice President of Military Affairs and Leadership Development at the Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce. “Each year the program and its participants accomplish things we could never have imagined possible at the beginning. I am excited to see the invaluable partnerships made between not only the individuals who are on this journey but also between the businesses and organizations they represent.”
