The Texas House of Representatives Committee on Defense & Veterans' Affairs held a field hearing at the University of Texas at San Antonio Downtown Campus on August 21, 2024. The field hearing provided a platform for the committee members to gather input from San Antonio's military and business communities on key topics related to the state’s military missions.
Among the key testimonies were contributions from The Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce's CEO, Jeff Webster, and its Vice President of Military Affairs, Bryan Logan (Col. U.S. Army Retired). Both Webster and Logan provided detailed accounts on the strength of Texas’ military bases, highlighting the significant role these bases play in the state’s economy and defense strategy.
This interim hearing reflects the House Committee's dedication to gathering valuable information from the San Antonio community and discussing the implementation of previously passed bills as they prepare for the upcoming 89th legislative session.
