
The Greater San Antonio Chamber joined many members at the groundbreaking ceremony for the highly anticipated Alamo Visitor Center and Museum on October 1. The celebration was a historic moment for our city, attended by state and local officials, including Lt. Governor Dan Patrick, General Land Office Commissioner Dr. Dawn Buckingham, Bexar County Judge Peter Sakai, San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg, Alamo Trust, Inc. Executive Director Dr. Kate Rogers, and many others.
Guests at the ceremony were invited to sign a banner commemorating the groundbreaking, marking their place in this new chapter of San Antonio's history. Community leaders from across the region gathered to support this monumental project, underscoring the importance of this initiative for the local economy and San Antonio’s vibrant cultural heritage.

The $185 million Alamo Visitor Center and Museum will bring a new level of engagement to the historic site with immersive galleries, a 4D theater, and a rooftop restaurant, creating a space where visitors can experience the Alamo in new and meaningful ways. According to Gallagher & Associates, this project is expected to generate $12 billion in economic benefits, create over 8,100 jobs, and bring in more than $600 million in tax revenues for the State of Texas.
