The 2025 cohort of the Greater Chamber’s Executive Connections:San Antonio (EC:SA) program gathered for a private dinner at Dean’s Steak & Seafood at The Kimpton River Walk.

Former Secretary of Housing & Urban Development Henry Cisneros spoke with the group about his new book, The Austin-San Antonio Megaregion: Opportunity and Challenge in the Lone Star State, co-authored with Robert Rivard and David Hendricks.

Cisneros reflected on the unprecedented growth of the San Antonio-Austin region and its emergence as a mega region that is the tenth largest in the U.S. with more residents than 24 other states.

He talked with program participants about the need for local leaders to expand and improve the region’s infrastructure as it continues to grow, while balancing the preservation of the natural environment to ensure the region remains a great place to live.

The chamber’s EC:SA program is designed to help senior leaders who are new to San Antonio or new to their roles gain a swift understanding of the community and forge the connections and relationships needed to be successful. The program provides a broad orientation on key civic issues and introduces them to the leaders who are shaping the region’s future.
