The Greater San Antonio Chamber recently hosted a moderated discussion highlighting the city’s Ready to Work workforce development program and its role in helping employers build a stronger, more skilled talent pipeline while expanding economic opportunity across the region. “Ready to Work is important as it provides a level of support to individuals going through the workforce development pipeline who may need a little bit of assistance to get to the finish line,” said City Manager Erik Walsh. “This is by far, the largest economic development investment that a city is making in itself in the country right now.

The business community came out in full force to celebrate the leadership of Bexar County Judge Peter Sakai and the County Commissioners at the Greater San Antonio Chamber’s State of the County on October 15.

The sold-out event was equal parts policy discussion and pep rally! Cowboys on horseback greeted guests, and the Spurs Coyote and Spurs Jesus got the audience charged up with a “Go Spurs Go” chant to kick off the program. The Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce celebrated our largest delegation ever for SA to DC with 210 participants during our advocacy trip.  

During our three-day trip, our attendees participated in nearly 100 meetings with 28 Texas Members of Congress and 7 Committee Chairs to help ensure San Antonio remains the best place to live, work and play in Texas.  

Every four years, the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Texas Section’s Infrastructure Report serves as a critical benchmark for evaluating the state of Texas’ infrastructure, including roads, bridges, water systems, and energy networks. This year’s findings underscore the urgent need for investment and strategic planning to sustain the region’s rapid growth and economic vitality. 

Governor Greg Abbott recently announced seven emergency items for state lawmakers to consider within the first 60 days of the legislative session – one of which was the creation of a Texas Cyber Command that would be headquartered in San Antonio.
