Chamber staff joined business and community leaders for a legislative meeting hosted by the San Antonio Area Tourism Council and the San Antonio Hotel and Lodging Association earlier this week. The breakfast event featured State Representatives Roland Gutierrez (D-119), Lyle Larson (R-122) and Diego Bernal (D-123) as well as candidate Barbara Gervin-Hawkins.
The state representatives each gave the group insight as to what they believe will be some of the most important priorities in the 85th Legislative Session. Education, revenue caps, and local control remain top on the list, but they each mentioned that we can also expect to see several proposed bills related to non-discrimination, specifically for bathrooms.
The event also featured a special presentation by Homero Lucero with the Texas Travel Industry Association (TTIA), and updates from both the Hotel and Restaurant Associations. As we ramp up to the 85th Legislative Session, your Chamber continues to advocate for the needs of our business community.
