The Chamber has been serving San Antonio businesses since 1894, so we know a thing or two about longevity. With that said, even our 122 years can’t compare to The Southwell Company, who recently reached their 150th anniversary. To celebrate this extraordinary milestone, the former Chamber Chairman and San Antonio legend Red McCombs and the Chamber presented the Southwell family with a 150th anniversary plaque and historical marker in honor of this achievement. Since 1866, Southwell has been a leader in signage products in San Antonio. They have produced countless bronze & aluminum plaques, metal letters, logos and historical markers. The only manufacturer of official historical markers for the State of Montana, Southwell’s dedication to dependable service and one-of-a-kind markers is not limited to Texas, their products can be spotted around the world in places like England and Saudi Arabia. Red McCombs and the Chamber presented the Southwell family with a plaque in honor of their 125th anniversary in 1991. The fact that The Southwell Company has stayed atop their industry long enough to be presented two separate plaques by the Chamber for major anniversaries like this is a testament to their endurance. Their ability to adapt to changing market conditions over 150 years is something that your Chamber hopes to emulate. “As the seventh largest city in the nation, we’re still growing, so there are going to be more opportunities for The Southwell Company to show the rest of the states what we do here and how we do it so beautifully,” Chamber President & CEO Richard Perez said. “This is impressive,” Perez continued. “This is Texas.”
