While many of us are enjoying the fun and sun of the summertime, unfortunately, the need for blood does not take a vacation. Summer months often see a decline in blood supply, because various donors are unavailable, and due to an increase in elective surgeries, the need for blood is greater. For the third year in a row, your Chamber has teamed up with the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center (STBTC) to help combat the shortage of life-saving blood supplies needed at this time. We invite you to take part in the B2B Blood Drive Challenge, which runs now through Labor Day - September 4, to help address blood shortages in the coming months. Participating organizations will host or participate in at least one blood drive during the challenge. A minimum of 25 advance sign-ups are required to host an on-site blood drive, and you can visit www.b2bchallenge.org to complete the registration form. Winners of this vital competition will be recognized in community advertisements and at a Chamber event this fall. Be sure to follow along using #B2BChallengeSA. Declining blood donations are an unfortunate national trend, with South Texas seeing as much as a 13 percent drop since 2012. Your donation, and the donations of your organization, will have an incredibly large impact in our growing community. Join the Challenge today!
