Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, teachers and school staff have seen their work change dramatically. Educators shifted to 100% remote instruction, then to teaching students both in-person and virtually and are now easing into more of a "normal" routine, with most students attending class on campus. Our principals, family liaisons, cafeteria workers, and bus drivers also did the extraordinary to safely fulfill the mission of guiding and caring for students. For their remarkable and selfless work, Senator José Menéndez would like to recognize them. Your Chamber has offered to help Senator Menéndez with this effort to organize “self-care” packages for at least 300 teachers and school staff. His team will be distributing the packages during Teacher Appreciation Week, May 2-6.
Your support of this event is possible in one or more of the following ways:
- In-kind donations to be added to goodie bags (primary focus on self-care items and gift cards). Some examples for in-kind donations are healthy snacks, hand sanitizer, skincare items, gift cards for leisure activities, etc.
- Monetary donation to be used for purchase of goodie bag items.
The Senator will be promoting this on social media and will publicly thank donors on those platforms and place an acknowledgement in each bag. They are focusing on those who teach at campuses within Senate District 26 that include the following school districts: Alamo Heights, Edgewood, Fort Sam Houston, Judson, Northside, Northeast, San Antonio, South San Antonio, and Southwest.
If you would like to help Senator Menéndez in showing appreciation for our local teachers, please email his District Director, Anna Alicia Romero or call 210-733-6604.
