The San Antonio Chamber of Commerce Economic Development Council will meet for a special session on Friday at 1:30 to hear from Brenda Hicks-Sorensen, Director of the City’s Economic Development Department. Brenda and her team began preparation of an economic development strategic plan for the city earlier this year to guide the department in driving long-term economic vitality in the region.
The department has concluded their stakeholder engagement process and, as part of their “opportunity phase,” will share their draft strategic plan with the Council in order to gather feedback and to foster additional discussion. Your feedback will be crucial in the final preparation of the plan that will be presented to the city’s Economic and Workforce Development Committee on August 31.
In addition to covering the strategic plan during this conversation, Brenda and her team will also be discussing the city’s economic development incentive guidelines, which are due for Council approval before the end of the year. The strategic plan will inform the incentive guidelines.
Join us for the final stakeholder meeting with the Economic Development Department before they enter a series of senior leader briefings within the city, preparing for its presentation to the City Council. Council chair, Charlie Weil from Transwestern, will host the Council on a special day: Friday, August 19 at 1:30. The meeting will be held at the Chamber’s Northside Business Center at 1100 NW Loop 410, Suite 109 and will also be offered via zoom for anyone unable to join us in-person. If you have any questions, or would like to receive a calendar invitation, please contact VP for Cybersecurity and Economic Development, Jeff Fair. We look forward to you joining us for this important meeting shaping the future of our city.
