It’s hard to believe that we are already eleven days into the new year, and we are going full throttle into an exciting 2023. While we have so much to look forward to in this year, we want to take a moment to reflect on a very busy, productive, and successful 2022. Under the leadership of our 2022 Chair of the Board Phil Green, Chairman and CEO of Cullen/Frost Bankers, Inc. and Frost Bank, we completed several key initiatives, including a governance restructure and the development of a strategic plan to guide the organization over the next three years. In addition, we advocated for the business community with an attitude of collaboration, service, and grace; supported important civic initiatives; and reinforced that business is a force for good.
We would like to thank Phil for his outstanding leadership and commitment to the Chamber and our community. We would also thank our members and volunteers, whose support and volunteerism helped as we:
- Endorsed and helped solidify community and business support for the Historic 2022 General Obligation Bond and its successful passage.
- Organized community stakeholder meetings to inform business and property owners about the City of San Antonio’s proposed Energy Benchmarking Program.
- Ensured the protection of business interest and the Central Business District during the City Council redistricting process.
- Developed and published a regional aerospace directory to promote San Antonio’s aerospace industry outside of our region and to recruit companies and talent to the city.
- Completed the 2022 healthcare and bioscience economic impact study promoting the industry and assisting in business and talent recruitment to San Antonio.
- Planned and hosted the Texas House of Representatives Innovation and Technology Caucus for a tour of San Antonio’s Cyber-related efforts.
- Successfully collaborated on a winning proposal to designate Camp Bullis as a Sentinel Landscape.
- Successfully advocated for continued funding of the Texas Defense Economic Adjustment Assistance Grant (DEAAG) program.
- Spoke at US Chamber Talent Pipeline Management Academy.
- Attended White House Latino Summit on Education.
