The Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce held its Executive Board Meeting on February 15, 2024, at KGBTexas Communications. The meeting was presided over by our 2024 Chair of the Board Mario A. Barrera, and Vice Chair Pat Frost.

The meeting began with the approval of minutes for January 2024. During the meeting, Jeff Webster asked the Governance, Nominating, and Communications Committee to exit the current meeting and gather in the case room for a small discussion. Chair Bobby Perez called the committee meeting to order at 11:15 am with a quorum. Bobby Perez requested a motion to approve the GNC list of appointments. Jamie Kowalski moved to approve the GNC appointments and Pat Frost seconded the motion. The motion carried.

After the GNC met and approved the nomination, Tom Troy, Chief Transformation Officer of USAA was elected to fill the vacancy on the Greater Chamber Executive Board. The motion was carried and passed unambiguously.

The Executive Board heard directly from Greater San Antonio Chamber Vice Presidents about the recent efforts of councils and committees. VP of Cybersecurity & Economic Development Jeff Fair, spoke about the Cybersecurity Council, Economic Development Council, newly reestablished Healthcare Committee, and the Aerospace Committee.

VP of Military Affairs and Leadership Development Lori Stinson provided updates on the Military Affairs Council which includes the Senior Enlisted Advisory Committee (SAEC), Celebrate America’s Military Committee (CAM), and the Woman to Woman, Leader to Leader Committee (WWLL).

Lastly, VP of Education and Workforce Development Katie Ferrier spoke about her work in the Education and Workforce Development Council and Program Assistant Avianca De La O gave an update on the Public Policy Council and the Infrastructure Committee.

As the meeting continued, Jeff Webster gave his President’s Update which featured the recent trip to SA to DC, the continuation of the Greater Chamber’s strategic plan, and membership updates. He introduced new team members Janice Alonzo, Executive Assistant to the President and CEO, and Janelle Diaz, Executive Assistant to the Executive Vice President.

Concluding the meeting, the Board asked what they do to ensure the Greater Chamber continues its path of success, Jeff Webster gratefully encouraged continued engagement and feedback on the work of the staff. Insight from our Executive Board will help us as we try to see over the horizon and make a difference for Greater Chamber members.
