Congressman Tony Gonzales was featured at the final Congressional Series Luncheon of the year on October 29. Moderating the discussion was Kevin Dinnin, President & CEO of presenting sponsor, the FirstDay Foundation.
Congressman Gonzales’ discussion provided valuable insights into his vision for the 23rd District of Texas and his role on the powerful House Appropriations Committee, which oversees nearly all federal government spending activity. He shared his thoughts on pressing issues like cybersecurity threats to our nation and the opportunity San Antonio has to grow in this arena, the need for comprehensive immigration reform, his efforts to improve school safety, and his ongoing work to establish a Veterans Excellence Center at UTSA. Gonzales also stressed the need for elected officials at all levels to come together in pursuit of solving problems, opposed to simply blaming each other for those problems.
The event was also sponsored by Toyota Texas Manufacturing, CPS Energy and North American Development Bank.
