Thanks to a collaborative effort between the Greater San Antonio Chamber, federal and local elected officials, City of San Antonio staff and others, the first nonstop flight between San Antonio and Washington, D.C. will soon take flight!  The U.S. Department of Transportation has tentatively awarded a new slot exemption at Reagan Washington National Airport to American Airlines for a direct flight from San Antonio. This significant achievement was a key discussion point during the Greater Chamber’s annual SA to DC trip, and the result of the community’s advocacy for over 30 years. It will further strengthen our position as Military City, USA, and support the retention, growth, and development of the business community.

The Greater Chamber would like to thank Senator Ted Cruz, Senator John Cornyn, Congressman Joaquin Castro, Congressman Chip Roy, Congressman Greg Casar and Mayor Ron Nirenberg, who have long pushed for nonstop air service to Washington. Special thanks to City Manager Erik Walsh, Assistant City Manager Jeff Coyle, Airports Director Jesus Saenz, and his team at San Antonio International Airport for their continued dedication to making this happen. Thank you to everyone who helped land this critical direct flight for San Antonio!
