On October 10, Bexar County Judge Peter Sakai was joined by his counterparts, Webb County Judge Tano Tijerina and Medina County Judge Keith Lutz, at the Greater Chamber’s first State of the Region event. The three discussed opportunities to strengthen ties between the South Texas counties, and collaborate on economic development, transportation and public safety initiatives that will support the continued growth and development of the region, while preserving the region’s outstanding quality of life. Sakai touted his vision for the “South Texas Diamond,” a region that includes San Antonio, Laredo, Brownsville and Corpus Christi, along with Monterrey and Nuevo Leon, Mexico.
Special thanks to the event sponsors, especially presenting sponsor, FirstDay Foundation, for their generous support in making this event possible. We would also like to extend our gratitude to Judge Sakai, Judge Tijerina, and Judge Lutz for sharing their insights and vision, as well as moderator, Eddie Aldrete, host of the Beyond the Bite podcast, for guiding the conversation.
