The first American Airlines direct flight from San Antonio to Washington, D.C. will depart the San Antonio International Airport on March 3, 2025! And what an appropriate date given that it coincides with the 2025 SA to DC trip, which was the forum for advocating for this direct flight in years past.
This new connection will strengthen ties between San Antonio and the nation’s capital, providing critical nonstop service to support the growth of key industries in our region, including military, defense contracting, cybersecurity, aerospace, and financial and professional services.
Interestingly, American Airlines will use unique flight numbers to honor the city’s history and the region’s strong ties to the military. The morning flight to D.C., Flight 1718, will commemorate the year the City of San Antonio was founded, while Flight 1947, the evening flight back to San Antonio, will be used to reflect the year the United States Air Force was established.
“This direct flight has been a part of our SA to DC agenda for many years so we’re very excited about kicking it off on the first day of our SA to DC trip,” said Jeff Webster, President & CEO of the Greater Chamber. “We are so thankful to our elected officials and many civic and business leaders who worked together to make this critically needed flight a reality.”
Registration is now underway for SA to DC, which is known for being one of the nation’s most effective annual fly-ins. It’s a great opportunity to make a positive impact on your business and our community this year and in the years to come!
